Privacy Policy
Privacy-first by default.
LocalLingo is designed as an offline-first translation app. This policy explains what stays on your device, what permissions are used, and how user data is handled.
Last updated: May 17, 20261. Translation Content
After a compatible translation model is downloaded, LocalLingo performs supported translation requests on your device. Your translation text is not uploaded to LocalLingo servers for cloud translation.
2. Voice Input
LocalLingo may request microphone and speech recognition permissions when you use voice input or conversation features. Speech recognition availability depends on iOS, device, and language support. Some system speech recognition behavior may be provided by Apple services depending on your device settings and selected language.
3. Text-to-Speech Playback
LocalLingo uses iOS speech synthesis to read translated text aloud where a suitable voice is available. Playback text is handled through Apple system speech capabilities.
4. Local History and Favorites
Translation history, favorites, app preferences, and installed model metadata are stored locally on your device. You can delete local history and downloaded models from within the app.
5. Accounts, Ads, and Tracking
LocalLingo does not require an account for translation. The app is not designed around ads or hidden user-content analytics. If analytics or account features are added in the future, they will be clearly disclosed before release.
6. Model Downloads
Downloading a local translation model requires network access. The model is stored on your device and can be deleted by the user.
7. Contact
For privacy questions, contact the LocalLingo team through the support page.
